Questions and answers

How much does Stripe charge per transaction?

On standard US pricing, a card payment costs 2.9% + 30¢; an international card adds 1.5%, and currency conversion adds 1%. In the EEA a standard European card costs 1.5% + €0.25, and in the UK a standard UK card costs 1.5% + 20p. These are Stripe's published list prices as of 2026-10-25.

How do I work out what to charge so I receive an exact amount?

Divide the amount you want plus the fixed fee by one minus the percentage: (target + fixed) ÷ (1 − rate). For $100 on US pricing that is (100 + 0.30) ÷ 0.971 = $103.30. Choose "Price to receive" above to do this for any amount, rounded to the cent. See how each fee is calculated.

Does Stripe refund its fee when I refund a customer?

No. Stripe's documentation says the processing fees from the original payment are not returned when you refund it. A refund issued very soon after the payment can be processed as a reversal, for which Stripe withholds no fees.

Why is my real fee different from the calculator?

Your account may be on custom or IC+ pricing, the card may be premium or from another region, or extra products (Billing, Tax, Radar, Connect, payouts) may apply. Tick "Use my own rate" to enter the rate shown in your Stripe Dashboard.

Is the 30¢ fee charged on every payment?

Yes, the fixed part is charged per successful card payment, which is why small payments lose a larger share: a $10 payment on US pricing costs 59¢ (5.9%), a $100 payment $3.20 (3.2%).

Privacy and data handling

The calculator runs entirely in your browser: amounts and settings are never sent to ConfettiSaaS. Analytics record that the calculator was used and which region and mode were chosen, not the amount. Share links keep the inputs after the #, which browsers never send to a server.
